To (w)rap or not to (w)rap

Growing up at the Wenciker house, presents were found on Christmas morning all wrapped up and tagged so you'd know who they were from. Most were from Santa, but some were from parents.

Growing up at the Seckman house, presents from the parents were wrapped and given on Christmas eve. The family woke up to presents from Santa - unwrapped - on Christmas morning. The logic here is that the presents came directly from the workshop (right?) so why would Santa bother with wrapping them?

How to meld the Wenciker and Seckman homes? We're not sure. I can totally buy into the unwrapped thing because the logic is there. But that's just not the way it was for me. Control Freak Anna is having a hard time giving up the 'final say' in this battle.

So... we are opening it up to you. Leave a comment, take the poll.... how did Santa leave your presents?

Always wrapped here and for our children wrapped also - but Santa just used printed tissue paper ~

unwrapped, for sure! Santa didn't have enough time to wrap all the presents he had to deliver...and E's grandpa usually just got a pile of coal, so it was way to hard to wrap!

Ours were wrapped, like mom said... half the fun was determining whose gift it was and all the fervent unwrapping that ensued! And of course to have the mountain of paper to roll in afterward.

We were a bit mixed growing up, but more like the Seckman clan. The gifts from the parents were done on Christmas Eve. Christmas morning, most of the gifts from Santa were wrapped (with tags) but two or three things were not wrapped (i.e., things that required a lot of assembly, the annual LifeSaver Storybook). Also, once there were two of us kids in the family, they were separated for us (but still tagged), so my gifts were all clumped together in one area and my brother's gifts were all clumped together in another area. Then, just to throw us off, Santa usually brought one or two "family" gifts - a board game for everyone to play and/or a puzzle. Those were tagged as being to the whole family from Santa. Good luck with this one, Anna - I can't wait to hear what you decide to do! :)

We generally opened all gifts on Christmas. Santa's gifts were wrapped. My mom used different wrapping paper for those, and as we got older and more suspicious, my mom had the baby sitter write on the tags, so we wouldn't recognize the handwriting. Also, as I got older, I started to convince my mom to open the presents on Christmas Eve. In that case, Santa knew that we would open the presents early, and so he brought them to us early.

WRAPPED. Surely. All the fun and surprise in unwrapping...

UNWRAPPED! My family was similar to Fred's, except that we opened gifts from eachother on Christmas morning. Gifts from our parents were wrapped and gifts from Santa were not. Usually our Santa gift was the one thing that was a little bit bigger (either in value or size) than the rest. It made sense since Santa was not there to wrap the gifts that they wouldn't be wrapped. I don't think the Morrisseys wrapped their Santa gifts either, soooo needless to say Lucy's gifts from Santa will not be wrapped! Good luck!!

Santa gifts are always unwrapped at our house, Santa does not have time to wrap. Maybe it's a southeast Nebraska thing.
